Windows System Administrator (Remote)

Salary: $90,000 - $100,000

Responsibilities:

Microsoft Exchange Server operations and maintenance

  • Document all platform service processes and procedures and maintain the artifacts in a document repository

  • Perform systems operation support, including server system administration, general troubleshooting, and troubleshooting of complex engineering issues for software, and network components

  • Provide expertise and assistance in migrations to managed services

  • Design, build, and test application upgrades within specified time frames

  • Manage and maintain Windows servers in the customer data centers; work directly with customers as required to ensure their needs are met

  • Set up administrator and service accounts, tune system performance, install system wide software

  • Develop and monitor policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources

  • Create, maintain, and implement detailed documentation and maintain standard operating procedures

  • Apply security settings and other commercial security best practices

  • Maintain and administer a multi-site, multi-farm Windows server infrastructure environment

  • Understanding of Microsoft Exchange configuration and administration

  • Provide Tier-3 support for e-mail related issues (permissions, quotas, global address list (GAL), Active Directory (AD) settings, etc.)

  • Troubleshoot Outlook client related issues (email flow, profiles, cache files, searching, settings, distribution lists, etc.)

  • Troubleshoot the Exchange Master Data Service (MDS) and Calendar Address Rewrite (CAR) related issues

  • Understanding of Windows Server design, configuration and administration

  • PowerShell Scripting experience

  • Completing registry backups and modifications

  • Group Policy Management (GPO) and application of Local Security Policies

  • Use of Windows Task Scheduler

  • Application of security settings/STIGs and other security best practices

  • System and application installation and configuration

  • System monitoring using installed tools as well as external tools

  • Experience with configuration, troubleshooting and maintaining virtual and cloud environments

  • Ability to work during non-business hours and participate on-call rotation

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field

  • Top Secret security clearance

  • CompTIA Security + certification (within 3-months of start)

Preferred Experience:

  • Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 and later

  • Microsoft Exchange

  • Microsoft IIS

  • Microsoft Active Directory

  • MCSE Server Infrastructure (2008 or later)

  • Experience automating system administration tasks using Windows PowerShell

  • Experience in Microsoft Active Directory administration
